H.E. Raul Fernando Sendic Rodriguez assumed office as Vice-President of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay in 2015.
At the beginning of his career, His Excellency Studied Medicine and Human Genetic at the University of Havana and return to Uruguay shortly after to dedicate himself to political activities. In 1999, he was elected as Representative of the Parliament on behalf of the Montevideo Department. In 2000 in the Committee on Housing, His Excellency became a Member of the Land Use - Planning and Environment Committee, later becoming Vice-President. At the same time he was a Member of the Committee on Industry, Energy, Mining and the Committee on Financial System Researches
In 2005, he took over ANCAP office as Vice-President (a State-owned company in Uruguay, involved in the refinery of petroleum products) later becoming President.
In August 2009, he was appointed as Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining and later joined the electoral list "Compromise Frenteamplista Number 711"
In June 15th, 2014 he was elected candidate as Vice-President by the National Plenary of the Frente Amplio, alongside the current President Tabaré Vázquez. He assumed office as Vice-President in March 2015.
