Given his entrepreneurial personality and interested in being part of the entertainment industry in Mexico, he founded KidZania on 1997, the company with which he would later develop the successful family edutainment concept, joining education with entertainment through role-play. KidZania was founded with a very strong sense of community, with the idea to build safe venues where kids could get close to values and qualities such as creativity, independence, responsibility and solidarity. The first KidZania city opened on September 1999 in Mexico City’s Centro Santa Fe shopping center. As of today, there are 24 KidZania metropolises in 19 countries –3 in Mexico; Tokyo and Koshien in Japan; Jakarta in Indonesia; Lisbon, Portugal; Dubai, United Arab Emirates; Seoul and Busan in South Korea; Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; Santiago, Chile; Bangkok, Thailand; Kuwait City, Kuwait; Mumbai and Delhi-NCR in India; Cairo, Egypt; Istanbul, Turkey; Jeddah, Saudi Arabia; São Paulo, Brazil; London, United Kingdom; Manila, Philippines; Moscow, Russia; and Singapore, Singapore–, plus 5 more in different development stages in cities such as Doha, Johannesburg, Paris, Dallas and Chicago.
KidZania is a 100% Mexican brand that is really well positioned among consumers in Mexico City and the 19 countries in which it currently operates. Proof of that are the more than 50 million people that have visited any of the KidZania cities around the world.
Xavier is single, enjoys traveling and is passionate about film. He has focused a great part of his life to work and to look for ways to give back to the community in which KidZania develops. That is proven in the close and human relationship he has with the 2,500+ collaborators that comprise his team in Mexico. Xavier’s philanthropic sense is reflected on the continuous creation of programs that allow underprivileged and/or disabled children to visit KidZania at no cost. He also promotes the organization of events that support –by means of raising funds– associations and foundations whose missions are related to children. Xavier is a member of the board of the School of Management of the Anahuac University in Mexico, the Make-A-Wish Foundation and the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Xavier has a deep commitment with Mexico, the society and the children of the world, and is a clear example that persistence, effort and work are the key factors to achieve any goal.
