María Claudia Lacouture will discuss the role tourism is playing in repositioning Colombia as a destination for international business

María Claudia Lacouture is Executive Director of the American Chamber of Commerce in Colombia. Prior to this she was Colombia’s minister of trade, industry and tourism, a position she held from 2016. She began her career in 1996 at Proexport (now ProColombia), where her roles included director of tourism in the organisation’s United States office, promoting non-traditional exports and attracting foreign direct investment. She has helped lead her country’s branding campaigns worldwide and increase tourism to Colombia. Ms Lacouture was also a researcher at the Swiss firm Egon Zehnder International, administrator and coordinator of internet content for Yupi.com, and worked as an international trade specialist at Trade Winds Networks in Miami.
