Susana Malcorra was responsible for bringing Argentina back into the international community under President Macri. She discusses the drivers of growth and the obstacles to it for Argentina and the wider region in a changing world.
Susana Malcorra was the Foreign Minister of Argentina until July 2017 after which, as Minister Advisor for the government of Argentina, presided over the WTO 11th Ministerial Conference. She holds a degree in electronic engineering from the University of Rosario and has 25 years’ experience in the technology sector, beginning with IBM and culminating as chief executive officer of Telecom Argentina. In 2004 Ms Malcorra joined the United Nations World Food Programme as chief operating officer. After four years she became undersecretary-general for the Department of Field Support for UN peacekeeping operations, and in April 2012 was appointed chief of staff to the secretary-general. In this role Ms Malcorra coordinated the Mission on the Elimination of Syrian Chemical Weapons and the first Health Mission for Ebola Emergency Response in West Africa.Back to programme
