Dubai International Financial Centre plugged Dubai and the wider Middle East, Africa and South Asia region into the global financial world over the past decade. Arif Amiri explains how the FinTech Hive at DIFC accelerator will link, develop and adapt financial technologies to the region now.
Arif Amiri is Chief Executive Officer for Dubai International Financial Centre Authority, the management body established to oversee the strategic development, operational management and administration of Dubai International Financial Centre.
Arif’s career at HSBC Bank Middle East, where he was responsible for the implementation of a number of corporate and institutional banking initiatives. Arif has held a number of positions within Emaar Properties PJSC, including Chief Commercial Officer, where he was responsible for driving the all-round commercial operations of the company. Arif was also Chief Executive Officer of Emaar Retail, where he provided strategic and tactical leadership for the retail and entertainment operations of Emaar across Dubai and other key emerging markets.
Arif was appointed Chairman of the Middle East Investor Relations Society from 2008 to 2011 and received the Honorary Award at the Retail City Awards in 2011. He further won the Retail Leadership Award at the 2012 Asian Leadership awards.
Arif holds a Post-Graduate Executive Diploma in Organisation Behaviour and Marketing Strategy from the University of Cambridge, Dubai, as well as a Bachelor’s Degree in Aviation Business Administration from the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida.
